Village of Royal Palm Beach

The Village of Royal Palm Beach, in Palm Beach County, is one of the nicest cities in South Florida. It was incorporated in 1959 and became mostly a retired citizens' community. But that changed in the 1980s and 1990s as young families began to move in. It is now a very young, family community with lots of amenities for children as well as older residents.

With a year-round population of around 25,000 (which grows somewhat during the winter season), Royal Palm Beach is a busy, fast-growing community with a solid and experienced manager-elected council style government.

Median family income is about $50,000.

A great diversity of housing opportunities are available in Royal Palm Beach. There’s something for everyone, from young families to active retirees, in the village’s many neighborhoods. Totally-maintained condominium communities feature recreational activities for active residents. Many single-family homes, from first-time to deluxe, make up the village’s active neighborhoods.

The village is home to several golf clubs and residents also play golf, tennis and other sports in neighboring communities such as Wellington. The village's schools are modern and well rated with most of the children continuing through college.

The village has set a high standard of 7.5 acres of park land per 1,000 residents. The parks are planned, functional, and designed with open space areas which are maintained at a high standard that serves the present and future needs of the residents.

Royal Palm Beach has been named Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation since 1990. The entire area within the village limits is designated as a bird sanctuary.

There are a number of shopping centers in the village with major chain food stores such as Super Target, Super Walmart, Winn-Dixie, Publix and healthy food supermarkets. Major department and discount chain stores range from Target and Walmart to Costco, B.J.’s, PetSmart, Petco, Toys-R-Us, Beall’s, Home Depot, Lowes, T.J. Max, Office Depot, Office Max and Burlington Coat Factory.

The South Florida Fairgrounds and Sound Advice Amphitheatre are at the village's eastern boundary, just east of State Road 7.

The village is five miles north of the Mall at Wellington Green, which opened in October 2001 as one of the largest fully enclosed malls in Florida. With at least five major department store anchors, hundreds of shops, restaurants, office buildings and a hotel, Wellington Green has already begun to increase property values in the village as well as its neighbors, Wellington, Loxahatchee and The Acreage.

Most homes are on quarter-acre lots but many neighborhoods have homes on larger lots including many golf course situated homes. The average new single-family home in the village costs about $200,000. Older homes are available starting at around $100,000.

The village recently agreed to contract for police services from Palm Beach County, as it has for fire protection.

The village has strict deed enforcement regulations and a number of homeowners associations with different regulations and bylaws that are enforced, but ordinances and regulations are not as strict as its neighbor Wellington.

It's a young community for Palm Beach County, populated largely by young families with children but also has a substantial older citizenry. during the past decade the village has spent millions on new parks, athletic facilities, an art and leisure complex and other amenities.

If you are looking for a gracious, comfortable, small town community, Royal Palm Beach may be a good place for you!
